Julia Hornok Vocal Studio

Healthy Technique • Confident Performers • Joyful Music Making

I am so glad you are here!

Singing is one of the most personal forms of artistic expression, and my hope is to create a studio where students are challenged, encouraged, and equipped to become thoughtful, confident musicians.

Every voice is unique, and every singer deserves training that honors both the artistry and individuality of their instrument. Lessons are rooted in healthy, function-based vocal technique, building the freedom to communicate authentically through music.

Whether you're preparing for auditions, studying musical theatre or classical repertoire, or seeking greater confidence in your voice, I will meet you where you are and tailor each lesson to your goals. Through consistent work, thoughtful instruction, and joyful music-making, students develop not only technical skill, but also the confidence to tell stories with honesty, beauty, and artistry.

I look forward to being part of your artistic journey.

Welcome!

PRIVATE LESSONS

  • Both in person and virtual options available.

Private sessions are the best way to see consistent, lasting growth!

Each lesson is individualized and will teach healthy vocal technique:

    • Discover and strengthen your chest (low) and head (high) registers.

    • Connect both registers into a mix voice.

    • Blend your low, middle, and high registers to find one, balanced and connected voice.

    • Learn to smoothly transition through your entire range with no gaps, flips, or breaks.

    • Find a balanced voice so you can sing throughout your range freely!

    • Build a healthy voice that is strong, reliable, and authentically YOURS!

With this vocal technique, we will learn to apply this throughout various genres and styles, learn repertoire, prepare for performances or auditions, and learn honest story telling techniques.

    Practice Expectations:

Consistent practice is the greatest contributor to musical growth.

Students are encouraged to practice at least five days each week. Together, we will establish realistic goals based on age, experience, and individual commitments.

Just as important as practicing often is learning how to practice well. Throughout lessons, students will develop effective practice habits that encourage independence, confidence, and steady progress.

  • Preparing for an audition can be both exciting and overwhelming.

Students preparing for school productions, theatre auditions, college auditions, summer intensives, or professional opportunities are encouraged to share audition dates so we can prepare together.

    Lessons may include:

    • Repertoire selection

    • Song cuts

    • Acting through song

    • Mock auditions

    • Audition etiquette

    • Performance preparation

  • Tuition reserves your weekly lesson time and includes:

    • Individualized weekly instruction

    • Music selection and repertoire guidance

Tuition for the 2026 fall semester includes 15 lessons of instruction, starting the first week of September. Tuition may be paid in monthly (at the beginning of each month) or semester installments.

Students may need to purchase method books and music on occasion throughout the school year.

Students should plan to commit to lessons for the full semester. If unforeseen circumstances require a student to terminate lessons mid-semester, one month’s paid notice is required to end lessons.

Private Lessons are $70/hour (recommended) or $40/half-hour.

    Accepted forms of payment include:

    • Zelle

    • Venmo

    • Cash

    • Check

    Complimentary Consultation

Every new student is invited to schedule a complimentary 20-minute consultation before beginning lessons.

    This meeting allows us to:

    • Get to know one another

    • Discuss your musical goals and experience

    • Hear a brief sample of your singing

    • Answer any questions

    • Determine whether my studio is the best fit for your goals

There is no obligation to continue after the consultation.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please provide at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible.

Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are not eligible for a make-up lesson or refund.

Exceptions may be made for illness or family emergencies at my discretion.

If you are feeling under the weather but are well enough to sing, online lessons are often a great alternative.

    Teacher Cancellations:

If I ever need to cancel a lesson, every effort will be made to schedule a make-up lesson.

If a make-up lesson cannot be arranged, the lesson will be credited toward future tuition.

  • Email is the preferred method of communication for scheduling, billing, and studio announcements.

Please reserve text messages for time-sensitive matters such as illness or same-day scheduling concerns.

  • Families with multiple students enrolled in weekly lessons receive a $10 discount on each additional sibling's lesson when lessons are scheduled consecutively.

  • The greatest compliment you can give my studio is recommending it to someone else.

When a current student refers a new student who completes their first month of weekly lessons, the referring student will receive a $25 tuition credit as a thank-you.
